The very successful grey gelding JA Gai Kascade has been purchased from Kevin James and Sarah Hamer. He will be used by Tony for pleasure, showing and endurance. We thank Kevin and Sarah for this wonderful opportunity.

Windella Silver Fire sold to Barbara Poulter of Masada Park

During April Windella Silver Fire was sold to Barbara Poulter of Masada Park Arabians. Barbara is looking forward to using Fire as a broodmare. We wish Barbara all the very best with Fire and know that Fire will will be in the best of hands to enjoy her retirement.

Taralea Baskhan has been sold to Kathryn Nicholas

Taralea Baskhan has been sold to Kathryn Nicholas of Waiuku just outside Auckland. After visiting Khan just before the recent NZ National Championships, Kathryn along with her mother Dinah fell in love with Khan. After winning Top 5 Senior gelding against very strong competition at the NZ Nationals he left Classic Arabians to head north to his new home. Kathryn says Khan has fitted into his new home wonderfully. He is destined to carry on his family tradition (being by The Ambassador) of competing in Endurance. We wish Kathryn, Dinah & Michael all the very best with Khan.

CA Ashtar Bint Calais WINS North Island Champion MARE

Huge congratulations go to Jocelyn Richardson the owner of CA Ashtar Bint Calais after showing Ashtar to win 2008 North Island Champion mare title as well as Taranaki All Arabian Show Champion mare. This wonderful success was well deserved. Ashtar also performed very well for Jocelyn under saddle. Well done Jocelyn!

Taralea Kassam has been sold to Sheena Carlyle

Taralea Kassam has found a wonderful home with new owner Sheena Carlyle. Buddy as he was affectionately know is going to be Sheenas' new riding and show horse. I am sure Buddy and Sheena will have a lot of run together!

Redwood Lodge Calais has been SOLD to Elaine Robertson from Te Anau

Redwood Lodge Calais traveled to his new home in Te Anau early in January 2008. He has settled in very well and has already been busy serving mares! He loves his new property which is surrounded by the most spectacular senary to be found anywhere in New Zealand. Elaine loves Calais and he is really enjoying his new life.

CA Milano, CA Ashtar Bint Calais & CA Zahra Bint Calais all perform well at 2007 Auckland Spectacular Show

All three of Redwood Lodge Calais's progeny performed extremely well at the 2007 Auckland Spectacular A Class Show. CA Milano also performed exceptionally well at his first show under saddle. He looked amazing in the Costume Class and took his nine year old Handler Savannah Stirling to first place in the Junior Handler Class. He was so well behaved and was an absolute credit to his bloodlines and the Arabian breed. Well done Everyone!!!

CA Zahra Bint Calais has been sold to Mr & Mrs MH & HL Frazerhurst

CA Zahra Bint Calais (Redwood Lodge Calais x Redwood Lodge Estonia) has been sold to to Mr & Mrs MH & HL Frazerhurst from Pakaraka, Bay of Islands, Northland. We wish them every success with Zahra. She is a beautiful mare and we are sure will do them proud in everything they choose to do with her.

Sales News

CA Torino Calais (current 2007 NZ National Reserve Champion Junior Gelding) has been sold to Rhodium Arabians (Auckland). Torino will continue his show career and later be shown under saddle. We wish Rhodium Arabians all the very best with Torino and know you will fall in love with his wonderful nature just as we have.

Fairview Shaklas Shania has been sold to Kathryn Blackwood of Mosgiel, Dunedin. Kathryn is very much looking forward to competing Shania both in hand and under saddle. We wish Kathryn all the very best with Shania and hope she enjoys Shania as much as we have.

Windella Silver Fire has been leased to Masada Park Arabians - Barbara Poulter. She is will be residing with Masada Park for the next couple of seasons and will hopefully give Masada Park a beautiful filly to add to their broodmare band.

Our beautiful Espano Estopa daughter CA Mohena Bint Espano foaled an outstanding colt on December 23, 2006. He has the very wedge-shaped muzzle of Espano Estopa along with an exceptional body. We are extremely pleased with him. (Photos to follow)

November 2006

Classic Arabians had an excellent 2006 Canterbury A&P Royal Show. We took our awesome gelding RV Shakla Magic and came home with Champion Gelding in hand. In the purebred saddle classes, we were fourth in turnout, second in the novice class, and fourth in the ridden male! Not bad for our first time out under saddle. It was a great day out.

On Friday November 24 2006, Tony with CA Nazika Bint Mohena, myself with RV Shakla Magic, my sister Jan Stanway with Murphy, her partner Warren Stevenson on Camelot Chardonnay (also bred by Classic Arabians), Tony Burgess of Silhouette Arabians with CA Silver Calais and Pauline Burgess of Silhouette Arabians on Assisi Bint Mahabi (imp Aust), trekked off to Mt Sandford, a 1300 acre property in North Canterbury. We stayed in their lovely self-contained cottage and spent the next two days riding over their incredible farm. Crossing creeks, jumping logs, riding up and down hills and valleys. It was to say the least spectacular! The horses behaved impeccably and totally enjoyed the weekend.

We are very pleased to announce our beautiful stallion Redwood Lodge Calais (Om El Abadan x Redwood Lodge Cabreaa), has been leased to Rosewood Farm Arabian Stud for the 06/07 and 07/08 breeding seasons. He is siring outstanding progeny across a wide range of mares. Many of his progeny are already A class champions. Whilst at Rosewood Farm, Redwood Lodge Calais will stand at public stud and will also be available by AI. Redwood Lodge Calais progeny triumph at the 2006 New Zealand National Arabian Horse Championships 2006

New Zealand National Champion and Reserve Champion Colts were both sired by Redwood Lodge Calais. These two beautiful colts displayed the attributes Calais is passing onto all is progeny being tall, typey with incredibly smooth bodies.

We have finally moved to our new farm at 21 Bramleys Road, RD1 Kaiapoi, which started from a bare block of land, specifically designed for the stud. This is very exciting. We look forward to enjoying our new premises for years to come.

CONGRATULATIONS to Dee Stirling on the purchase of CA Milano. Milano travelled to Auckland in early December and now thinks he has died and gone to heaven. He has joined Dee's family and is getting the absolute Royal treatment. Milano is destined for a wonderful life of exciting outings and having ago at anything and everything. I know he will take this in his stride and love every bit of it. Good Luck Dee!

Windella Silver Fire arrives at Classic Arabians. On 21 September 2005 Windella Silver Fire arrived at Classic Arabians from Fairview Arabian Stud in Australia. Windella Silver Fire is by AMIR EL SKAKLAN out of SILVER SHIMMER (Imp UK). SILVER FIRE is in foal to S.K. SHAKLA KHAN (Australian Reserve Champion Stallion) and is due to foal January 2006. She has a very lovely dished face and a good long neck. She is just over 15 hands high and has super movement. Silver Fire is a 3/4 sister to Silver Glint (imp) who produced many Australian National Champions.

2005 sees a complete new start for Classic Arabians. 2004 saw many changes to the stud including the sale of many horses and the relocation of our stud.

CA Shuhra Calais has performed very successfully for Barbara at a number of shows in the North Island including gaining 2004 Auckland Spectacular Champion Filly and 2004 Clevedon A&P Show Champion Filly/Supreme Champion Arabian.

Silver Calais and Camelot Chardonnay have been started under saddle and are enjoying their new life out there doings things. Recently we, Jan Stanway and Silver Calais, Warren Stevenson and Camelot Chardonnay, me with Fairview Shakla's Shania and my new partner Tony went out for ride on the beach. What an experience watching two of the horses I have bred having fun on the beach and being thoroughly enjoyed by their new owners.

We have just purchased 13 acres in Flaxton, which is very close to Kaiapoi on the outskirts of Christchurch. We have just completed the fencing, round corral and yards and are about to begin building our new house and stables.

2005 has seen the purchase of GS Moniet El Nefous - a Gai Cadet daughter purchased specifically to breed to Calais.

We have had a very quiet couple of years with only one foal due the coming season, from our other leased mare, Ambassador's Miss, who is a very lovely Ambassador daughter.

This coming 2005/2006 season we will be breeding a number of mares to Calais including:

Fairview Shakla's Shania

Ambassadors Miss

GS Moniet El Nefous

CA Nazika Bint Mohena will also be bred to an outside stallion.
